The PatrolmanThe Patrolman was the first project that I ever produced. The picture combined the concept of honoring those who started the U.S.B.P. with a lot of research. The agent is sporting a dress uniform from 1924 complete with suicide strap and widow maker. The suicide strap or leather cross brace which helped support the gun belt, earned it's nickname because in a struggle with bad guys it could be used to throw the inspector off balance, giving the bad guy the advantage. The widow maker refers to the holster that agents used to secure their pistol. The fact that it had a flap with a snap to secure the weapon added time to take it from the holster during an altercation. This could and did give the bad guy the advantage at times. The horse in the picture also is fitted for the times. His equipment was taken from the 1925 El Paso, Tx Horse Patrol. Click image for larger view I hope you enjoy this print, I had a great time researching it. 11 X 16 Signed and Numbered Lithograph Print |

75 Years of EnforcementWhile researching this piece I contacted several agents both in Washington, D.C. and in El Paso, TX, the home of the U.S. Border Patrol Museum. My goal was to find the first duty weapon issued by the Service and do a now and then reproduction for our 75th Anniversary. What I discovered was that the Colt Model 1917 was the first duty issue for the U.S.B.P. Unfortunately the museum had only pieces of the wheel gun available. Thinking back I remembered that my father, a former green shirt, had given me a colt pistol. Sure enough it was the model 1917. So this print features this pistol and our duty issue at the time. 13 X 16 Signed and Numbered Lithograph Print |
